    Traditional Offset vs. Digital Printing

The Print Authority has always balanced its business between traditional offset printing and digital printing. Both processes have unique advantages.

Traditional offset printing is produced on a printing press which uses printing plates and wet ink. This type of printing generally takes longer to produce as there is more setup and the final product also requires drying time.

Pantone® (PMS) Spot vs. CMYK Color

Although we offer both spot (PMS) color printing and process color printing in house, it is important to fully explain the difference between the two. For the purposes of this discussion, spot color printing and process color printing are both produced on traditional offset printing presses using printing plates and wet ink.

Spot color is an offset printing process whereby specific ink colors are mixed and put on a printing press for use on a specific job.

    Green Printing Thumb

    Green Printing

Although the idea has been around for some time, tranforming printing to make the printing process ‘greener’ has come into its own over the last decade. There are many ways to make the printing process greener and lessen its environmental footprint. These ideas range from changing the type of printing process itself, lessening the amount of printing, changing the types of papers or other materials being printed, altering ink or toner usage, and reusing or recycling byproducts of the printing process or the printing itself.
